Senior Pup Surrendered To Kill Shelter STILL Wearing Christmas Sweater, Crying in Fear All Day

As a routine visitor to the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, one thing I know for certain is that Carson is the last place on earth you would expect find hope. Statistically speaking, most dogs that enter the facility very rarely make it out. The high-kill, city-funded, cash-strapped facility grapples with overcrowding, and so hard decisions have to be made every day to free up valuable kennel space.

That means that dogs and cats living in the facility have just a few weeks, and sometimes even just days to find a forever family before they are “humanely euthanized.” One pup who could tell you all about the politics of Carson if he could speak is a 12-year-old poodle named Billy. Billy’s owner didn’t want him anymore after 12 long years of love and devotion. And so he dumped him at Carson knowing full well what his fate could be.

Billy, who a volunteer told me is so heartbroken over the betrayal, barely raises his head to greet shelter patrons anymore. The only thing to keep him comfort from the awful, lingering sting of rejection are his toys, and the favorite sweater he cries into every night before he sleeps. Sad indeed.

A Petharbor listing for Willy reads,

“My name is Billy and I am described as a male, white Poodle – Miniature. The shelter thinks I am about 12 years old. Please consider me-I need help.”

SpeakUp, a kill shelter is no place for a senior dog to spend the golden years of his life. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family he rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566 and reference the shelter ID #A5032277.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Willy a family that cares. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.💕❤
