Bonded Pair Surrendered To Kill Shelter Together, Comfort Each Other Through The Pain

The Miami-Dade Animal Shelter (MDAS) is not a place where you would want to pin your hopes and dreams to say and write the least. Dog’s, and cats surrendered to the shelter are given just a few weeks, and sometimes even just days to find forever families, before they are “humanely euthanized.”

Desperate dogs and cats peer out of their kennel cages staring you in the eyes begging for help, and for some, it might be their last plea ever. That’s because when the MDAS is at capacity, hard decisions have to be made to free up valuable kennel space. Dogs are usually brought to the back of the shelter, also known as “death row,” where they are prepped for an untimely end.

For two pit bulls named Mason and Kimmy, they could tell you all about the politics of the MDAS quite literally. Both were adopted out of the shelter together in the past and were surrendered yet again by a cold-hearted owner who reportedly said during his intake “I’ve just had enough” according to my source at the shelter who wished to remain anonymous for this story.

And so today, both Mason, and Kimmy are back to square one where all the odds are stacked up against them yet again, with their lives dangerously hanging in the balance. Shelter staff at the MDAS allowed for a rare exception in letting the two be kennel mates as the only solace to dull the pain from the rejection and fear they feel.

Kimmy especially cowers in fear from the noise and chaos of shelter life at MDAS, and so Mason is often seen cuddling up next to him to let him know that he has his back no matter what happens. Sad indeed.

SpeakUp, if you or someone you know is interested in giving these two precious pups the forever family they rightfully deserve, please contact the Miami-Dade Animal Services at (305) 884-1101 and reference the shelter ID numbers A1844972 and A1844971.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Mason and Kimmy a forever family.
