Terrified Bonded Chihuahua Surrendered To Kill Shelter Reduced To Tears After Owner “Dump and Runs”
Success stories at the high kill Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California is few and far between. Dogs and cats living in the facility are given just weeks, and sometimes even days to find forever families before they are brought to a holding area where they are prepped to be “humanely euthanized.”
If you visit Carson as often as I do, one thought that never ceases to flee the mind is how hopeless things are in there. The noise, chaos, and confusion the animals living in the shelter endure on a daily basis, is enough to make even the most emotionally resilient people break down and cry.

For two chihuahua brothers named Mario and Luigi, they could tell you all about the politics of Carson if they could talk. The bonded pair were mercilessly dumped at Carson, by a heartless owner who performed a “dump and run” according to my source at the shelter who wishes to remain anonymous. A “dump and run” in shelter parlance is when a person walks into a shelter, dumps their pet, and runs without giving any information other than a name if shelter staff is lucky.
Mario who is 2 years old and Luigi who is 1 years old, can often be seen cuddling one another in the shelter to keep each other strong. Mario, who staff says acts as Luigi’s protector, tries to console his little brother Luigi, who openly weeps in the night when the lights are turned off wondering what he did to deserve this treatment. Sad indeed.
Speak Up, a kill shelter is no place for two young terrified pups to be. If you or someone you know is interested in giving these precious pups the forever homes they deserve, please contact the Carson Animal Shelter at 310.523.9566 and reference the shelter ID numbers #A5029252 (Luigi) and #A5029250 (Mario).
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding these two precious pups a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
