13-Year-Old Stray Found Locked In a Crate Is Formally Placed on Death Dow
When I met Julio a few days ago, the fear, and anxiety that comes with an uncertain future, finally took a toll on his tiny frame. Julio was shaking uncontrollably at the noise, chaos, and confusion he was feeling, living in the high-kill Miami-Dade Animal Shelter (MDAS) where dreams and hopes fade faster than evaporated water.
To say and write the least, the MDAS is no place for the faint of heart. Dogs and cats living in near prison-like conditions are given just weeks, and sometimes even just days to find a forever family before they are “humanely euthanized” to free up “valuable” kennel space according to my source at the MDAS.
Julio is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet once he learns to trust you. It is a pitiful shame his former owner couldn’t see this in him. At 13 years old, age is working against him as most shelter patrons pass him by in favor for younger dogs. Sad indeed.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of interest in him, Julio was formally placed in the back room, also known in shelter parlance as “death row,” where he could be put down in a matter of days unless you have your say.
Speak Up, let’s rally around this pup who should be enjoying his golden years surrounded by toys, treats, and a family who loves him. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the home he deserves, please contact the Miami-Dade Animal Services at 305-884-1101 and reference the shelter ID #A1848541.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Julio a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
