Young Shepherd Dumped at Kill Shelter By Heartless Owner, Openly Wept As He Walked Away

As an avid animal lover and dog owner, I could never fathom the day I would disavow the basic virtue of loyalty, and dump my dog at a kill shelter, leaving him all alone to find for himself. For one cold-hearted owner, he didn’t think twice about such an action. Unfortunately, a young shepherd by the name of Jake is struggling to make sense of it all at the high kill, Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, wondering what on earth he did to deserve such a betrayal.

According to a source who volunteers at the shelter and wishes to remain anonymous, during the intake Jake’s owner gave the reason that he was a “handful” as the reason why he was surrendering the adorable pup to Carson. As his owner left, Jake could be seen whimpering, and then openly weeping wondering where on earth his owner was going. A heartbroken staff member quietly walked him to his kennel space, where he now awaits an uncertain future.

A Petharbor Listing for Jake reads:

“My name is Jake and I am described as a neutered male, black and tan German Shepherd Dog. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years old. I am friendly, kind and sweet, and looking for a second chance in life.”

Confined kennel space, is no place for a German shepherd to be. Shepherds are highly intelligent, energetic, social dogs and so not being able to do something as simple as playing in a larger space is crushing this poor pups soul.

SpeakUP, if you or someone you know is interested in giving Jake the forever family he rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566, and reference the shelter ID #A5024942.
