No One Wants To Adopt This Puppy Living In Kill Shelter Because of The Color of His Coat
In certain cultures across this globe, animals with black coats signify a bad omen. In fact, in America alone, there is folklore surrounding black cats in particular. Most people believe that black cats are bad luck, especially if they cross in front of you, which couldn’t be further from the truth.
The reality is that animals with black coats that make their way to shelters across this great nation of ours have a difficult time getting adopted when compared to their blond and mixed coat counterparts. Statistics show that pit bulls, and animals with darker coats make up the largest share of animals euthanized in America. Sad indeed.
For one 13 week old puppy named macaroon, the struggle is all too real. Macaroon presently resides at the Miami Dade Animal Services (MDAS) facility, and is facing a life and death situation. The MDAS, unfortunately, is a high kill shelter where dogs are given just weeks, and sometimes even just days to find homes before they are “humanely euthanized.”
Macaroon was initiated into this cold and heartless world, with a cold hard lesson no pup her age should have to experience. Instead of laying in a doggy bed enjoying toys and treats, she makes a cold concrete slab her only refuge from the pain of not feeling wanted.
Shelter staff say Macaroon is sweet, loving and kind, and it is an outright shame her owner couldn’t see that in her before turning her over to a place like MDAS. There is no other logical conclusion they can come up with as to why she is being overlooked, other than the color of her coat.
SpeakUP!, if you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the Miami Dade Animal Services at (305) 884-1101 and reference the shelter ID #A1846392.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Macaroon the home she deserves. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
