Emaciate Pup Found Unconscious In Abandoned Home, Praying For a Second Chance

As an avid animal lover myself, I can’t for any reason in my head fathom why people are outright neglectful when it comes to taking care of their dogs. My theory in life is that dogs are people too. They have feelings, emotions, and need to be taken care of on a daily basis. One dog owner who didn’t get this memo could soon be paying the price for his neglectful ways when it came to caring for his dog named King.

Rescue organization KC Pet Project introduced King’s sad narrative to their Facebook audience posting:

“King was rushed to our shelter Friday afternoon after Kansas City, MO Animal Control rescued him from the backyard of a very cruel and neglectful home. Bitterly cold temperatures, strangulation, and starvation had nearly taken his life. His cold body began having seizures and his organs had begun to fail.“

In fact, when animal rescue workers, acting on a tip, went to investigate, they were shocked by what they discovered. King was laying on the ground of an abandoned home in the backyard, nearly strangled to death from the chain that tied down his neck. King was barely conscious, however, when he felt the people were there to help and not hurt him, he summoned all the strength he had in his emaciated frame to let them know he was alive by giving them a paw. It was a thumb’s up to say, “I’m ready to move beyond this sad chapter in my life.”

King was rushed to an emergency animal clinic where he is receiving around the clock treatment to stave off a host of ailments too long to list in this post. According to confidential sources at the animal clinic, he is wagging his tail and has regained full consciousness after receiving IV fluids with vitamins and nutrients. KC Pet Project is cautiously optimistic about his progress concluding,

“He’s been receiving ‘round-the-clock emergency care from our shelter’s veterinary team this weekend and our partners at BluePearl Veterinary Partners have been providing his overnight care. He’s now able to stand and walk a little, giving kisses to our staff and eating a little on his own.”

King will soon be up for adoption, and we ask that you keep in in your prayers once he is well enough to be placed in a home. Please keep him in your thoughts and in your hearts.
