Depressed Senior Pup Surrendered To Kill Shelter, Is Just Too Sad To Face Visitors Anymore

On January 12, Luna, a 10-year-old senior pup, would begin what would be a sad chapter in her life as she was surrendered to the Baldwin Animal Shelter in California. Her owners didn’t want to have anything to do with her, and so they brought her to the kill shelter after a decade plus of loyalty she has shown, telling a shelter staff member “she’s your problem now.” Luna is completely confused by her new living situation and so she has shut down as one would expect.

When shelter patrons used to visit her kennel space, she was the first to run up to the kennel, hoping in her mind it was her owners returning for her. Instead, she was disappointed time after time, and so she just stopped trying. Today, Luna can be seen tucked away in a corner, crying herself to sleep and spending her days staring at a wall in her kennel. Sad indeed.

A Petharbor listing for Luna reads,

“My name is Luna and I am described as a female, tan Chihuahua – Smooth Coated. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old.”

Luna is special needs, suffering from blindness and so this might be the reason her owners gave up on her, but thankfully she has you. SpeakUP, if you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Baldwin Park at (626) 962-3577 and reference the shelter ID #A5025190.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Luna a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
