Shelter Workers Heartbroken As Staff Favorite Placed on Death Row
At the high kill Los Angeles Animal Services “Harbor Shelter,” Trixie, a 5-year old pit bull mix is in a very precarious position, as she was just placed on death row. Trixie, a pure bundle of joy, has won over the minds and the hearts of shelter staff members for her charm and charisma. They have done everything they possibly could to preserve her life, however, protocol, unfortunately, is just that: protocol. The city funded shelter, which is struggling with overcrowding, will have no choice to euthanize her within the coming days if she is unable to find a forever family.
A representative with rescue organization and advocacy group ARF Harbor Shelter wrote a glowing review of Trixie saying,
“Trixie is easily one of the sweetest and most gentle dogs we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She’s a voluptuous and full-figured beauty who loves having her ample belly rubbed, and whose calm and gentle nature has already made her a volunteer favorite. She shares her kennel with another dog and appears to be dog-friendly. Trixie is amazing.”
Because Trixie has a mass on her left leg, the shelter has placed her on a “medical alert.” At this time of the season, the last place any dog wants to be is trapped in a kill shelter, looking from the inside out. It’s time to set Trixie free because she deserves a second chance. Most importantly, she deserves life.
If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever home she rightfully deserves, please contact the Harbor Animal Care Center at 310.548.2632, San Pedro, California and reference the animal ID #A1650794. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Trixie a home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
