Senior 'Brandy' Dumped at Kill Shelter By Heartless Owner Who Called Her a “Bad Girl”
Imagine giving thirteen years of your life to someone, only to be brought to a shelter, told you were a ‘bad dog,’ and unceremoniously surrendered to of all places the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California. Carson is not exactly a place where you pin your hopes because there simply isn’t enough of it to go around. The notoriously high kill, cash-strapped, city-funded facility grapples with overcrowding.
In a bid to maintain what they call “population control,” very difficult decisions have to be made to free up valuable kennel space. In plainer terms, this means that dogs who are unable to find forever homes withing weeks, and sometimes even days, are brought to a back room where they are euthanized.
For one dog named Brandy, her new reality is all too sobering. Brandy gave thirteen solid years of her life to an owner, who did not think twice about surrendering her. According to an anonymous shelter volunteer who witnessed Brandy’s intake, her owner surrendered her to the facility, muttering that she was a ‘bad girl’ before quickly fleeing. In fact, my source says that he gave no reason for the surrender before he quickly fled away on foot. Soon after that, Brandy began crying her eyes out, sobbing and barking for the owner who left her all alone for the first time in her life to caring for herself.
Brandy is the complete opposite of a ‘bad girl.’ In fact, she is sweet, obedient, kind, and has shown nothing but respect to staff at Carson. She certainly didn’t deserve this treatment, especially when you consider how angelic her behavior is.
A Petharbor listing for Brandy reads,
If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the second chance she deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566 and reference the shelter ID #A5021452.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Brandy a forever home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
