Emaciated Pup Dumped at Kill Shelter By Heartless Owner Is Clinging To Life

For a 1-year old-pit bull mix named Flower, life just seems like a hard nut to crack. One day, she showed up at the San Bernardino Animal Shelter(SBAS), in San Bernardino, California, with a man who said she was “sweet,” and he could no longer care for her.

Shelter staff were immediately aghast by the condition of Flower, because she appeared to be severely underweight. As shelter members continued to probe further into how she was able to deteriorate to that state, her former owner denied any wrongdoing, and promptly left the shelter.

With more questions then answers, an anonymous source at the shelter told me that Flowers case could be referred to authorities as an animal cruelty investigation. For now however, the SBAS is trying to find Flower a foster, or forever family that can help restore her health, which is critical at this moment.

Flower is too weak to stand, and so shelter staff are doing all they can to feed her a special diet, to reintroduce essential vitamins and nutrients to her malnourished frame. Flower is responding to food well thus far, and all signs seem point to a recovery. However, rescuers are cautiously optimistic.

A Petharbor listing for Flower reads,

“My name is Flower and I am a 1 year old female Pit Bull. I was neglected, but I am very sweet and deserve a second chance. Shelter staff are doing everything they can to save my life. I know I can do all things, if I an opportunity.”

If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the San Bernardino City Shelter at (909) 384-1304 FLOWER ID #A500510. Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Flower a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
