10 Year Old Chihuahua Living In Kill Shelter, Trying Her Best To Keep a Brave Face

When you meet Loba, the first thing she does is give you a paw, and a smile that could quite literally light up an entire room. However, you notice something very off, as soon as you walk away. That’s because the 10-year-old pup knows that she isn’t leaving the shelter with you, and so its back to the corner in the kennel, where she awaits the next patron who might take a chance on her.

Loba is presently cutting her teeth inside the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, a place volunteers who spoke on condition of anonymity described to me as a “prison for dogs.” Like other animals trapped inside the high-kill facility, Loba is on a time constraint. That means she has just a few weeks, if not days to find a forever family before the unthinkable happens: euthanasia.

A Petharbor listing for Loba reads,

“LOBA's Dad dropped her off at the shelter because life just got so busy for him and his wife. She is 10 and he knows she could possibly not make it out and he still chose to leave her.. It's probably better because they let her live with an untreated skin condition that she will be treated for now. She is so stressed they wanted to wait a bit to take off her leash once they examined her. She needs help NOW!! Please SHARE for her life, she's SO heartbroken and a FOSTER or ADOPTER would save her. Thanks!”

According to my source at the shelter, defeat, after defeat has taken a toll on Joey emotionally. Sadly, she has given up, and when patrons visit her kennel space today, she is just too sad to lift up her head anymore to try and make an impression.

SpeakUp, a kill shelter is no place for a dog like Loba to live her life to the fullest. If you or someone you know is interested in giving her the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the Carson Animal Shelter at (310) 523-9566 and reference the shelter ID #A4271741.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Loba a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
