Sadly, No One Wants To Adopt This 3-Year-Old Chihuahua Because of The Color of His Coat
Having a bad day? Get in your car and drive to the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, and you will soon realize that your problems, don’t quite stack up to the plight of animals trapped in this high-kill facility. Be grateful that your life doesn’t hang in the balance like the many dogs and cats who peer out of their cages with the saddest eyes you might ever see, hoping you might be the key to a second chance.
Carson is a place where dreams and hopes fade quicker than the end credits of an Albert Hitchcock film. Dogs and cats trapped in the facility are given a few weeks, and sometimes even just days to find a forever family before they are “humanely euthanized.”
For one chihuahua named PT, his life is the noise, chaos and the acrid smells of Carson, that has completely left him shattered. The young pup, who staff says is sweet, kind, and loving is routinely passed up for other dogs. One shelter staff member who spoke exclusively to me has a hunch, and it is the saddest hypothesis I have ever heard.
Sadly, in certain cultures, animals with black coats are perceived as a bad omen, and so many people by and large overlook these animals when they are in the market to adopt, unfortunately.
SpeakUp, if you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family he rightfully deserves, please contact the Carson Animal Shelter at 310.523.9566 and reference the shelter ID #A5030145.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding PT a new home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
