3-Years Old Young Shepherd Trapped In High Kill Shelter, Praying For a Second Chance

When I think of all of the places I enjoy visiting, the Carson Animal Shelter is not one of them. The dogs and cats trapped inside the high kill, cash-strapped facility in Gardena, California have just a few weeks, and sometimes even just days to find forever families before they are “humanely euthanized.”

For one dog named Shira, Carson is her new reality. After being shamelessly dumped at the shelter by an owner who didn’t care for her anymore, Shira’s life now hangs in the balance. Instead of being out on a field somewhere, playing fetch with her toys, Shira makes a cold concrete slab as the only thing to comfort her from the pain of an uncertain future.

The young pup isn’t quite used to her confined space, and so on most days, you can find her tucked away in a corner, contemplating a very dark future. Sad indeed.

A Petharbor listing reads,

“I am described as a female, black and tan German Shepherd Dog. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old.”

SpeakUp, a kill shelter is no place for a young, sweet, and handsome shepherd to be. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566 and the her ID #5033957

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Shira the home she deserves. We have done it many times before, and can certainly do it again.
