14-Year-old Senior Unwanted and Tossed Away Like Garbage into Busy Shelter
Gentle and loving, Max currently waits at the East Valley Animal Shelter for his family after he was picked up as a stray. How does anyone explain to a dog the life he once knew is gone? Animal advocate and frequent shelter volunteer, Sherry Brewer met this 14-year-old handsome pooch and wants everyone to know he deserves better:
A Facebook page for this dog can be found here. His advocate notes he weighs about 48 pounds and is truly an adorable pooch. He wouldn’t require a lot of exercise; maybe a few times a day for a leisurely walk to enjoy the fresh air, companionship and much needed moderate exercise to keep him “young.” Perhaps a soft bed to sleep on near his family and a gentle pat or two on the head reassuring this senior is a good dog will comfort him. By the way, Max loves treats! When asked how he does with other dogs, the following information was provided:
Friends of East Valley Animal Services- Van Nuys, CA “He showed no reaction when walked by kennels, but that’s not a true test, obviously. He may have some arthritis in his back legs, causing him to walk slowly, so it’s doubtful he can chase after another pet.”
Kindly share this dog’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives; Max is depending on all of us to help him find a new, loving home. Please note that Max is also eligible to be fostered; all medical expenses are covered during that time.

“Just one look was all it took! Then, spending time with MAX (A1677725) outside the kennel had me hooked! At an estimated 14-years of age, it appears that MAX had the ability to wander away, albeit slowly, from his home to end up in the East Valley Animal Shelter as a “stray.” His family, obviously, has not come for him.”
