Adorable Husky Pup Living in High Kill Shelter Placed on Death Row

When I visited the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California last week, I couldn’t sleep for days. Dogs clamor in their kennel space vying for any kind of attention, to draw you into the struggles of their plight. The barking, noise, chaos, and confusion they go through on a daily basis is enough to give even the most emotionally resilient humans chills down the spine. Simply put, there is no such thing as hope at the Carson Animal Shelter. Dogs are given just weeks and sometimes even just days to live before they are placed on death row, a staging area in the facility, where they are prepped for a “humane execution.” Sad indeed.

One dog who can tell you all about the pain, sorrow and sheer madness of this place is an adorable 1-year-old Husky named Hugo. According to shelter staff familiar with his case, Hugo is as charming as they come. For his age, he is well behaved, kind, considerate, loving and obedient. It comes as a surprise then, that his owner dumped him at Carson, knowing full well that this action was tantamount to a death sentence.

A Petharbor listing for Hugo reads,

” Hi there, my name is Hugo. I am described as a male, black and white Siberian Husky. The shelter thinks I am about 1 year old.”

At his tender age, Hugo should be out and about in a field somewhere, enjoying his life to the fullest with all his favorite treats and toys. Instead, he makes a cold concrete slab his new home, as he awaits an uncertain fate. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this pup the forever family he deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566 and reference the shelter ID #A5026061.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Hugo the home he deserves. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
