Charming Pup That Quickly Became A Shelter Staff Favorite, Returned to Kill Shelter

For a charming, charismatic pup named Klondike, luck certainly hasn’t been on his side. Klondike was first brought to the attention of the Devore Animal Shelter San Bernardino, California after his former owner could no longer afford to care for him. This was a setback in Klondike’s life, but he didn’t let it weigh him down. Klondike’s attitude in a time of adversity impressed shelter staff members so much, that his jovial, inviting nature quickly won him fans.

The shelter staff was more motivated than ever to find him a home and within just a few weeks, Klondike found a home due to their hard work. Unfortunately, lightning struck again because, within only a few days, Klondike was returned to the shelter because the person adopting him told staff he was too “aggressive” with his smaller dogs. The shelter staff went to bat for Klondike again, and this time it took them only a few days to find a new forever family for Klondike.

As the new family settled in, and Klondike was getting used to his new surroundings, a knock on the door came and it was the landlord. Sadly, he told Klondike’s new family that he could not live in the home because he was too big. Toy dogs, as the landlord would put it, was the only breed allowed in his building.

A sad, and confused Klondike returned to his familiar kennel place and was shattered emotionally into a million pieces. In fact, for the first two days, the pup who was once so excited to greet patrons at the shelter, didn’t move one bit. His only solace from the tears, in fact, was a cold concrete slab.
