Depressed Shepherd Dumped at High Kill Shelter, Is Just Too Sad To Greet Visitors Anymore
The first thing that hits you when you enter theCarson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California is the overwhelming sense of despair and hopelessness dogs and cats locked inside grapple with on a daily basis. The shelter is loud, chaotic, and filled with a smell that is too graphic for me to describe in this article.
Simply put, Carson is a place where dreams die to say and write the least. Dogs are given just a few weeks, and sometimes even just days to find forever families, before they are “humanely put to sleep” to free up valuable kennel space.
For one middle-aged shepherd named Shane, he could tell you all about the politics of Carson if he could talk. His family didn’t want him anymore for a reason they refused to give. And so in a stunning betrayal, they dumped him off at the high kill, city-funded, cash-strapped facility where his life now hangs in the balance. Sad indeed.
Shane, just like any intelligent shepherd, knows for sure that this is not normal. The depressed pup, who is just too sad to greet visitors to the shelter anymore, can now be found lowering his head and sobbing into the cold concrete slab that doubles as his bed.
A Pet Harbor listing for Shane reads,
If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family he rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566 and reference the shelter ID #A5029522.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Shane a home. We have done it many time before, and can certainly do it again.
