5-Year-Old Senior Struggling To Make Sense of New Life at High Kill Shelter
When you visit the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, you can’t help but feel the overwhelming sense of sadness and hopelessness as you watch the many dogs locked inside their kennels begging to get out. There is no way to sugarcoat the fact that Carson is quite literally a prison for dogs, and for most, it is a death sentence. In fact, most dogs who enter the facility never make it out all thanks to the “population control” implements that Carson puts into place to deal with overcrowding.
In other words, dogs are given just weeks, and sometimes just days to find forever families, before they are “humanely euthanized.” For one senior pup by the name of Pepper, the situation is critical. For 15 years of his life, he gave his owner the love, loyalty, and devotion that unfortunately was not reciprocated. Pepper is confused, and the sadness is written all over his face. His new normal is the chaos, noise, and the smells that come along with life at the high-kill Carson Animal Shelter.

If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family he rightfully deserves, please contact the Carson Animal Shelter at (310) 523-9566, and reference the shelter ID #A5023931.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Pepper a home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
